FRD April image blond sunglassesWe’re making it a double (blog post week, that is) and sending out another blog post this week to let you know to join Fashion Revolution USA ~ a movement turning fashion into a force for good. We had the pleasure of meeting Bianca Alexander, Esq. of Conscious Living TV and Marci Zaroff of Under the Canopy last week at The Ethical Fashion & Sustainable Design Summit at Sustainatopia 2014. They’re both passionate board members of Fashion Revolution USA who are supporting positive change for our planet.

We will be joining the movement by wearing our clothes #insideout for the first Fashion Revolution Day tomorrow, April 24, 2014 and we invite you to join us! This day marks one year since 1,133 people were killed and more than 2,500 injured in Dhaka, Bangladesh when the Rana Plaza factory complex collapsed due to unsafe working conditions.

Fashion Revolution Day is a worldwide movement in over 50 countries demanding fair treatment for all garment workers and clothing to be made ethically and humanely. This day will honor the lives of those who died in Dhaka, while also striving to create transparency and justice in the global fashion supply chain.

Be sure to check out the video of Fashion Revolution Day ambassador, Amber Valletta (supermodel, actress and founder of Master & Muse, an online ethical fashion retailer) who says: “We all need to pay attention to how and where our clothes are made because we share a common thread: humanity.” We couldn’t agree more!

The video is produced by previously mentioned, Marci (Fashion Revolution USA board member and ethical fashion pioneer) whose clothing and lifestyle company, Under the Canopy collaborated with t-shirt designer, Michael Stars to create a limited edition #insideout t-shirt made of 100% organic cotton. The shirt has a simple, yet powerful message: “Who Made Your Clothes?” that should spark dialogue for months to come. This collaboration helps to keep the campaign in motion beyond April 24, and is available for purchase on Shopethica and Modavanti with proceeds benefiting the Rana Plaza Donors Trust Fund.

It’s an easy way to get involved and show that you care about all of the people on the planet and take steps toward positively impacting change, learning, growing, making a difference and doing something!

Also, if you post a photo of yourself wearing an outfit #insideout on the Fashion Revolution Day USA facebook fan page on April 24, 2014 by 11:59pm PST, you could win an ethical designer wardrobe valued at over $3,000 courtesy of various event day brand partners, including: 2ETN, Bhoomki, Deborah Lindquist, Dhana Eco Kids, GUNAS, Loomstate, Mata Traders, Mink Shoes, Nomadista, Org by Vio, Pashen, Seamly.co, Simply Natural Clothing, Stewart + Brown, Tabii Just, Under the Canopy and Vaute.
